FAQ

Most frequently asked questions and answers

What is this program ?

The NETWORK has mobilized an Emergency Food working group to address the food security needs for Indigenous individuals, families, and elders living in Montréal. We mobilize and coordinate key partners to address and respond to gaps in services for people who are food insecure.

I know someone who is food insecure, how do I get them in contact with this service ?

If they have access to a phone, please have them call 514-527-5200 or send an email to support@reseaumtlnetwork.com. They may also visit our program Facebook page « Montreal Indigenous Emergency Food Aid » where they can send us a private message and we’ll assess their food needs.

I'm non-Indigenous, can I use this service ?

No, this service is specifically for Inuit, First Nations, and Métis individuals and families who are currently food insecure.

If you are non-Indigenous and food insecure, please get in contact with the MADA Food Bank, which is a monthly food service that gives both fresh produce and non-perishable food items, as well as other household essentials.

Is this program available for Indigenous families outside of Montreal ?

No, our current focus is on Indigenous people living in Montreal who are food insecure.

What is the application process like ?

Call 514-527-5200 or email us at support@reseaumtlnetwork.com to get in touch with a staff member that will assess your food needs.

Food baskets and Meals On Wheels: We will arrange for a service to be carried out within the week, between 2-5 days.

Groceries: We order online groceries based on a list you can provide, coordinate a volunteer to pickup the groceries, and deliver your order to your front door.

How often can I use this service ?

Meals on Wheels is a reoccurring weekly service that distributes frozen meals provided by Santropol Roulant. The total number of meals you will receive will depend on the amount of meals available to us that week and the number of households in need. Food baskets and grocery services are currently on a one-time only basis.
