Health Navigation Program

Indigenous program

The Health Navigator provides support and advocacy for First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous community members by:

  • Facilitating and coordinating access to health care services
  • Addressing cultural and spiritual needs – Ability to refer to services of an Elder 
  • Networking with Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners to make the health journey a culturally safe experience
  • Assisting in filling out forms and acquiring necessary documents (health card, hospital card, Indian status card)
  • Accompanying to appointments
  • Advocating for patients needs
  • Making sense of the system
  • Referring and connecting to other services
  • Interpretation during appointments (English, French, Cree, Naskapi, and Inuktitut)
