Born of the process of democratization of Quebec education, inspired by the reiterated and renewed ideal of accessibility, instituted as a public, secular, French-language general-purpose institution, open to the world and integrated into its community, UQAM’s mission is to :

  • Produce new knowledge, transmit and share knowledge, preserve and enrich scientific, cultural, intellectual and artistic heritage.
  • Contribute to the democratization of higher education and to student success at all three levels of study.
  • Contribute to the development of society through training, research and creative activities aligned with the concerns of educational, cultural, professional, social and economic circles.
  • Stimulate, develop and promote scientific and artistic curiosity, analytical thinking, critical thinking, creativity, autonomy and commitment.
