Vanier Indigenous Circle
Students may also get involved in The Vanier Indigenous Circle, a collective of committees and programs that are coordinated by faculty and staff with student members. They are all engaged and committed in making Indigenous education a priority. We honour the knowledge and worldviews of Indigenous peoples and invite them to work with us to decolonize and indigenize academic content and pedagogies. The groups and programs can include: Decolonizing Pedagogies for faculty; Indigenous Studies Major for students; ReconcilAction committee; Indigenous Advisory Council; and A’nó:wara Indigenous Student centre.
The Vanier Indigenous Circle works closely with Indigenous students and employees to organize events, information tables, displays, cultural events, film screenings, social gatherings, lunches and student led initiatives. Our activities comprise 4 main areas: Support to Indigenous students, Professional Development and Support for Faculty and Staff, Teaching general education courses that include Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies, Community events and projects.
