Country food and support for women in the hospital birthing centre

Programme Autochtone

Our women have always known how best to support each other through pregnancy and birthing. Niqituinnaq (country food) is at the heart of a healthy pregnancy and baby growth. For Siqinirmiut, it can be hard to access nourishing food from the North so needed during pregnancy. This program supplies cooked country foods to the Birthing Centre at the MUHC Glen Hospital site. There is a refrigerator for Indigenous patients. We also visit with the women and make sure they have what they need for once they go back home from the hospital. Want to know more?
