Open 24/7, 365 days a year, The Open Door Montreal’s Emergency shelter operates with a high-tolerance approach, offering a variety of services for people experiencing homelessness, with priority given to the unhoused Indigenous communities in Milton Parc. Services are developed with an unwavering commitment to cultural safety and harm reduction in a warm, participant-centered environment.

Note that the Emergency shelter serves both non-Indigenous participants and Indigenous community members. On 45 bed, a minimum of 30 are reserved for Indigenous community members

Also, every Friday, participants have access to a nurse-led clinic.

People who use the shelter will also have access to the following services:

  • Listening, referrals and advocacy
  • Meals, as well as traditional food on occasion
  • Clothing and laundry service
  • Harm reduction items and Naloxone
  • Shower and hygiene items
  • Support with identity cards, including Indigenous identify documentation
  • Computer, phone, printer and Wifi/Internet
  • First aid and medical care
  • Help with housing search
