Indigenous Assistance Program
Indigenous program
The Indigenous Assistance Program provides frontline and ongoing psychosocial services that aim to remain culturally relevant and respond to the needs of Indigenous Women. Many of the Indigenous clients use our services to access basic essential needs such as meals, showers, hygiene products, clothing and a safe space for respite. In addition, this program responds to psycho-social needs by offering individualized intervention plans, active listening, advocacy, referrals, home visits, outreach and wellness checks, as well as legal, social and medical accompaniments.
Our team also provides intervention through cultural activities, these activities being held once a week.
Note that participants of this program also have access to emergency beds at our shelter, as well as to our Financial Administration Program.
Clients may also access other services available in the day centre, such as:
- Computer, fax, printer, phone, and Wi-Fi
- Emergency shelter and short-term housing
- Help with finding financial support
- Harm reduction items and naloxone
- Help with housing search and job search
- Laundry Service
- Legal Help
- Medical Care
- Mental Health Counselling
- Access to a postal box
- Support with filing taxes
- Program and activities for children
- Traditional food on occasions
