Since 2015, thanks to funding from Service Canada, Indigenous women who are homeless, with no fixed address and/or residing at an overnight shelter may be referred to a caseworker for Indigenous women for assistance with finding permanent housing, ensuring housing stability and addressing other challenges.
Our objectives are:
- To search for and obtain immediate access to permanent housing for homeless;
- To assist with furnishings and other necessities to establish a residence;
- To provide visitation and follow-up services by our Indigenous caseworker;
- To ensure that each participant has enhanced economic or employment opportunities; and
- To provide access to other community services.
Please note that participants of this program also have access to a bed in our emergency shelter, as well as to our Financial Administration program.
