Location: Montreal (PAQ1 – 169 de la Gauchetière Est, on-site position)
Status: Permanent, part-time until March 31, 2026
Schedule: Friday to Sunday, evening shift 4PM– 12:00AM
Salary: $25.38/hour

Job Description

The Refuge Worker provides direct support to shelter participants and promotes group life and community engagement. The person ensures the safety, stability, and cleanliness of the facility, responds to crisis situations, serves meals, coordinates housekeeping tasks, and participates in team meetings and training sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support tailored to participants’ needs
• Promote group life and a sense of community
• Maintain the safety, stability, and cleanliness of the shelter
• Serve meals and manage the communal space
• Respond to crisis and emergency situations according to protocols
• Complete relevant documentation, statistics, and reports
• Coordinate participants’ housekeeping tasks
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions
• Perform other duties as assigned by the coordinator or team leader

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum six months of experience in intervention, social work, or a related helping field
• Experience living or working with Indigenous communities or individuals
• Experience with homelessness, addiction, or mental health services (asset)
• Functional bilingualism in French and English; Indigenous language knowledge is an asset
• Empathy, initiative, professionalism, and ability to work in a team
• First aid certification (asset)
