Towards Inclusion, Cultural safety & Equity in physical rehabilitation – Tungngasuttitaq – (ICE-T) is offering a scholarship for $3000!

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Inuit undergrad or graduate student in the social sciences, health sciences, film studies or any other related field to work with us as an intern within the ICE-T project.

 

 

The project is currently engaged in producing educational audiovisual capsules (videos in Inuktitut, English, French) to better prepare Nunavimmiut to travel South by presenting and clarifying the nature of rehabilitation services.*

 

Intern’s role

The intern’s role will be hands-on in assisting the project manager in data collection and interpreting cultural factors. In addition to administrative tasks, the intern may assist with the dissemination of the video, knowledge translation activities and marketing/social media campaigns. This task involves broad research, writing and communication skills as well as the ability to work as part of an innovative team. The team involves health professionals from the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), CSI, Ullivik, CIUSSS West-Central rehabilitation centres; researchers from UQAM,Université de Montréal and McGill University; and members of the community.

Knowledge and skill to be developed

To name a few:

  • Knowledge on social sciences such as medical anthropology, public health, health systems management; physical rehabilitation;
  • Knowledge and competencies in research methods such as qualitative methods;
  • Knowledge of culturally sensitivity in healthcare setting;
  • Competencies in knowledge brokering;
  • Partnership building competencies and professional/scientific communication skills;
  • Competencies in team work;
  • Competencies in project management;
  • Competencies in critical and problem solving.

Requirements : 

This internship is reserved to members of the Inuit community:

  • Highschool diploma obtained;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • An in-depth knowledge of Inuit culture;
  • Attentive to details;
  • Works well in teams.

An asset:

  • Undergraduate diploma obtained;
  • Knowledge of oral and written Inuktitut;
  • Communications abilities in social medias;
  • Experience in film production.

Internship modality :

Please keep in mind that working in the research field involves irregular hours (up to max. 10hrs/week). Most of the work will be carried out online. Nonetheless, we will be mindful to respect balance between work, school, and family or community engagements. The internship should begin in January 2025 and be no longer than 6 months to a year.
