Immediate Supervisor: Facilities and Operations Manager
Status: Part-time – 27 hours/week
Schedule:
Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Organization Overview
PAQ is an Indigenous organization that supports First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples experiencing housing insecurity in Tio’tià:ke / Montréal. Through a culturally appropriate approach rooted in empowerment and harm reduction, we provide shelter, housing options, and services that promote well-being, healing, and community building. We work in partnership to advocate for the health and housing rights of Indigenous peoples in urban settings.

What You Will Do
The Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting cooks in preparing and serving nutritious, safe, and culturally respectful meals to PAQ community members. The position contributes to the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen by carrying out food preparation, cleaning, and logistical support tasks, while adhering to hygiene standards and PAQ’s values.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the cook(s) with meal preparation (ingredient preparation, assembly, portioning).
- Clean and disinfect work surfaces, equipment, and kitchen areas.
- Wash, organize, and maintain utensils, dishes, and equipment.
- Participate in the receiving, labelling, and storage of food and supplies.
- Strictly adhere to food hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen at all times.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth and respectful food service.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in a kitchen, food service, or institutional setting is an asset.
- Willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and teamwork.

Language Requirements
- Fluency in French required.
- Fluency in English required.
- Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.
