The Chez Doris Indigenous Private Housing Program (IHP) supports Indigenous women experiencing housing instability or homelessness in finding and transitioning into housing on the private rental market:

  • Assistance with housing searches, apartment visits, lease signing and more;
  • Personalized psychosocial support adapted to the realities, life experiences, and backgrounds of Indigenous women;
  • Financial assistance for moving costs, furniture, small appliances, groceries, rent support, and access to an emergency fund for expenses that could jeopardize access to or stability in housing.

Eligibility:

Participants must:

  • be Indigenous and provide proof of status;
  • be independent in daily activities and able to maintain their housing;
  • have an annual income of less than $48,000;
  • have total assets valued at $50,000 or less;
  • agree to psychosocial follow-up and commit to a personalized support plan.
