Mission

PAQ is an Indigenous organization that supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis people facing housing insecurity in Tio’tià: ke / Montreal. Through a culturally appropriate approach based on empowerment and harm reduction, we provide shelter, housing options and services that promote healing, well-being and community. We work in partnership to advocate for the health and housing rights of urban Indigenous people.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repairs
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure PAQ facilities meet safety and operational standards.
  • Generate reports detailing required repairs, recent breakdowns, and potential safety hazards identified during weekly inspections.
  • Respond to employee requests and complete work orders.Address building emergencies by contacting the immediate supervisor and securing the site to prevent injury.
  • Perform minor repairs across all sites.
  • Coordinate and provide access for suppliers, contractors, and tradespeople.
  • Transport and Inventory
  • Transport tools, materials, and inventory between sites (within a 2 km radius).
  • Pick up materials for repairs from suppliers and deliver them to the site.
  • Pick up and deliver donations and supplies when no delivery service is available.
  • Receive and restock weekly food orders.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in basic repairs and maintenance (e.g., drywall, plaster, painting, doors, hardware).
  • Familiarity with building systems (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, electrical).
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions and access to a functioning vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French;
  • English communication skills are an asset.
  • Comfortable with technological tools (computer, cellphone), including work order and asset management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proactive attitude.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Position Status:

Full-time (35hours/week), permanent
Schedule: 8 am – 4 pm (60 minute lunch break)

Salary and Benefits:

22$/hour
2 weeks of paid leave
10 sick/personal days
Group insurance after 3 months

Location:

The employee will be based at the main shelter located at 169 de la Gauchetière East.
The employee will still need to travel to all our facilities and those to come.
