Honouring and Remembering the Children: Orange Shirt Day Memorial

30 September 2025
Events

Vanier College invites you to attend its first official National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Memorial event.

The ceremony will feature readings describing the history of this day, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

The orange shirt serves as a symbol of the loss of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by children in the residential school system. As well, Indigenous Vanier students will share what the day means to them, and Director General Benoit Morin will address Vanier’s commitments through its Strategic plan to Indigenous Education, and to working together with Indigenous communities.

If you have any questions, please email Billi-Jo Poirier at poirierb@vaniercollege.qc.ca
