As LOVE Quebec strives to strengthen and expand our collaborations with Indigenous communities and organizations, we recognize the critical importance of Indigenous community and youth participation and consultation in shaping our programs. We are committed to integrating Indigenous knowledges, traditions, and ways of doing into our existing initiatives to ensure they are meaningful and impactful. To support this mission, we are seeking a candidate to lead our program development and outreach with Indigenous youth. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will work collaboratively with Indigenous youth and community leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team, fostering partnerships and co-creating workshops that reflect and honor Indigenous perspectives and priorities to maximally benefit participants.

Summary of Role

  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with Indigenous communities and youth-serving organizations
  • Identify and recruit Indigenous youth participants for LOVE programs
  • Plan, organizing, adapt and facilitate LOVE programs with Indigenous youth
  • Prepare program materials, including work with photo and video
  • Provide crisis intervention and/or referral for youth participants as necessary
  • Accompany youth on outings
  • Participate in special events, including but not limited to fundraising galas, festivals, exhibitions
  • Create social media content to promote communication with participants
  • Support the maintenance of positive relationships between organizations and collaborators
  • All other tasks required for the improvement of the organization as assigned by your supervisor

Assets

  • Demonstrated experience of successful long-term collaboration or work with or in Indigenous communities/organizations and serving Indigenous clientele on a face-to-face basis
  • Post-secondary education (college or university) plus a minimum of 5 years experience in the community sector OR a combination of secondary education and equivalent work experience (8-10 years) in the fields of social services, education, psychology, psychoeducation, sexology, gender studies, Indigenous studies, or related fields
  • Significant experience in trauma-informed group facilitation and intervention with youth aged 14 -18
  • Practical understanding of community care practices and working knowledge of mental health support frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of intervention within the LGBTQ2S+ community
  • Fluent in French and/or English, bilingualism an asset, knowledge of an Indigenous language an asset
  • Driver’s License

Working conditions

  • Full time: 35 hrs / week / Day and evening
  • Salary: range between $51,000 and $54,000, commensurate with experience
  • Includes a generous group insurance plan (dental, psychological support, medication coverage, etc.) and employer matched retirement benefits
  • 10 days of vacation, plus an additional 10 days during which the office is closed during the winter holiday
