
Maintenance Technician
Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Building Manager
Position Status: full time (35 hours/week), permanent
Position Objectives
As a member of the PAQ team, you will join an organization dedicated to providing essential services to individuals in vulnerable situations. You will play a key role in ensuring the maintenance, safety, and functionality of the facilities. Through your expertise in maintenance, you will directly contribute to creating a safe and suitable environment for both users and staff.
Tasks and Responsibilities
General Maintenance:
- Perform maintenance and inspections of building systems, including electricity, plumbing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), as well as basic repairs such as carpentry, plastering, and painting.
- Carry out daily maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure the proper functioning and safety of the facilities.
Service Call Response:
- Respond to service requests from all PAQ locations.
- Diagnose and repair minor issues or report more complex problems to the manager.
Emergency Management:
- Respond quickly to urgent repair situations.
- Perform a preliminary assessment of necessary repairs.
Coordination with Subcontractors:
- Assist in supervising work performed by external contractors.
- Ensure that interventions comply with safety standards and current regulations.
Supply and Inventory Management:
- Prepare and submit orders for necessary materials and parts.
- Manage the inventory of cleaning and maintenance products.
Other Related Tasks:
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the maintenance manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role (maintenance, general upkeep, manual work).
- Experience in a community or institutional setting (an asset).
- Basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to diagnose technical issues and propose effective solutions.
- Bilingualism (French and English) required.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Good manual dexterity and physical fitness to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (mandatory).
Working conditions:
- Schedule: 8 am – 4 pm (60 minute lunch break)
- 2 weeks of paid leave
- 10 sick/personal days
