Part time High School Inuktitut (Inuit) Language Teacher
The Lester B. Pearson School Board is currently hiring for a dynamic and inspiring Inuktitut Language Teacher, on a part-time contract position. As a teacher of the Inuktitut language, you will inspire your students’ mastery of the language and their understanding of its history, literature, culture & traditions.

Qualifications:
Brevet (or teaching permit)
We will also consider a non-licensed teacher who has experience teaching the Inuit language. The candidate should have a post-secondary degree or diploma.
Term of employment: FTE 35% – Contract/part-time (12.25 hours per week)
Other requirements:
- Bilingual in Inuktitut and English or French
- Knowledge and experience applying best practices in the areas of instruction, curriculum development and assessment
- Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
- Knowledge of Inuktitut/Inuit language, histories, cultures and traditions
- Experience in teaching Inuktitut classes and preparing class material
- Fluency in Inuktitut & ability to read and write in Inuktitut
- Understanding of linguistic structure of Inuktitut
- Experience and/training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team as well as independently
- The ability to work with and build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders; e.g., students, parents, administration
- Willingness to advocate and participate in outdoor activities
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for class preparations.
- Gather and/or create Inuktitut content and curriculum for classes
- Responsible for delivering Inuktitut language classes
- Work with other resources to create culturally relevant content
- Create and promote a welcoming learning environment
- Other related duties as required
Salary will be determined according to the collective agreement and based on experience and level of education.
