Description: A poignant drama following the story of young Elsa, an Inuk woman in 1940s Nunavik. Directed by Marie-Hélène Cousineau and Madeline Ivalu, Restless River is a feature film adapted from Gabrielle Roy’s novel. The story traces Elsa’s journey as she faces adversity, motherhood, and the transformation of her world under colonial influence. The film offers a sensitive and nuanced Indigenous perspective on history, resilience, and family ties in Northern Quebec.
