The Defense of the Nehirowisiw Aski: Discussion with Land Defenders

Join us for a presentation by Nehirowisiw (Atikamekw) land defenders on their struggle to protect their ancestral land against the aggression of colonial resource extraction companies. The defenders will explain the context of their struggle, share some updates, and propose ways to support the continuation of their fight.
The workshop will be given by members of the Nehirowisiw Aski Land Defenders Association. This Association is born from the will of a group of Nehirowisiw from different communities to unite their forces and capabilities to promote their culture in all its forms and honor their cultural responsibility to take care of the land and water along with the natural habitats of many animals.
