They Are Sacred Film Screening for International Day of Persons with Disabilities
McGill University will mark the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on December 3, a global observance dedicated to advancing the rights, visibility, and full participation of persons with disabilities.
First proclaimed by the UN in 1992, IDPD is an opportunity for institutions and communities worldwide to recommit to accessibility and inclusion. At McGill, this day affirms our ongoing work to create a campus where all members of our community can thrive.
The Office of Indigenous Initiatives will host a special catered lunchtime screening of They Are Sacred at the First Peoples’ House, followed by a discussion with Dr. Bruno. The film offers an intimate look at an autistic Cree child and his family’s efforts to reclaim Indigenous understandings of neurodiversity—perspectives that view differences not as deficits but as gifts that contribute to community wellbeing.
Registration for the screening is available here: December 3 Film Screening “They Are Sacred”
