Volunteer Opportunity: Childcare Support at the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal

31 March 2025
Volunteering

At the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, we offer a safe, supportive space for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women and children. Our services address immediate needs while fostering growth through culturally informed programs. With 24/7 support and a holistic approach that combines traditional healing with modern methods, we empower women and children to overcome challenges, embrace healing, and build the foundation for a positive future.

We are currently looking for dedicated volunteers to provide childcare support for our clients. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, allowing mothers and caregivers to focus on their needs while they access essential services. Volunteers are needed to assist with childcare throughout the week, but especially during evenings, and your support will directly contribute to the well-being of families in our care.

Volunteer Shifts:

We need childcare support Monday to Friday evenings, between 4 PM and 9 PM.

Volunteers who can commit to 2-3 hours per week at a consistent time are prioritized. However, there are also opportunities to volunteer biweekly or monthly.

Skills and Expertise:

If you have specific skills or experience that could benefit the shelter, we encourage you to reach out and let us know how you can contribute.

Commitment:

A minimum 6-month commitment is required to ensure stability and continuity for the families we serve.

Please email Isabel Davies at volunteercoordinator@nwsm.info to inquire.
