Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Strengthening Families Program Manager will work closely with the Research team to adapt and develop the Strengthening Families Program to meet the needs of Indigenous families living in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and the community organizations that provide services to these families.

About the position

Type: Full-time
Weekly hours: 35h
Workplace: Hybrid (work from home, and on-site Wednesdays and Thursdays in our offices situated in Verdun)
Salary: Between 33 $/h and 36 $/h (commensurate with experience and current HR policies)

Responsibilities

Design and Develop a program
  • Study the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) model and similar programs developed for/by Indigenous families.
  • Review evidence-based practices to identify elements for adaptation or integration.
  • Collaborate with community partners to design a culturally responsive work plan tailored to the needs of Indigenous families in Tiohtià:ke.
  • Create a communication and implementation strategy for the adapted program in collaboration with the Communications Team.
  • Elaborate funding reports for Public Safety Canada.
Promote Community Engagement and Capacity Building
  • Consult with Indigenous community partners to gather insights, feedback, and identify family and community needs.
  • Foster strong relationships with Indigenous organizations and stakeholders to ensure meaningful collaboration.
  • Develop a curriculum for Indigenous partners who will deliver the program, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and knowledge needed for successful implementation.
Coordinate, Implement, and Evaluate
  • Coordinate program activities with Indigenous organizations participating in the pilot project.
  • Oversee the implementation of the adapted program, ensuring alignment with community values and priorities.
  • Document and analyze the adaptation and implementation process to identify challenges, successes, and key learnings.
  • Develop a best practices report guiding future program iterations and share insights with stakeholders.
Participate in teamwork
  • Participate in the team’s internal culture by being present at the workplace, in team meetings and in team events and activities.
  • Proactively communicate details of activities to the team during meetings and the weekly team meeting. 
  • Demonstrate respect for colleagues by responding to messages in a timely manner and arriving at required times for meetings and activities. 
  • Be aware of the various policies and procedures in effect within the organization and contact administration if needed. 
  • Encourage a work environment based on proactivity, respect, inclusion, listening, decolonial approaches, creativity and Indigenous practices and values.

 

Qualifications and assets

Qualifications
  • Have excellent time management, prioritization, and deadline management skills.
  • Be able to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Indigenous sector in Tiohtià:ke.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and compassion.
  • Practice active listening.
  • Show initiative, creativity and autonomy.
Assets
  • Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree related to social sciences, management, law, Indigenous realities, or any other field relevant to the position.
  • Any experience in program development, project management, research, counselling and community work will be considered an asset.
  • English-French bilingualism
