The NETWORK has a New Director

The Board of Directors of the Montreal Indigenous Community NETWORK (the “NETWORK”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Leilani Shaw as Executive Director.

“We have been eager to share this news with the urban community” said Tealey Ka’senni:saks, President of the NETWORK’s Board, “the NETWORK is in great hands.

Leilani is Kanien’kehá:ka from Kahnawà:ke. She started working with the NETWORK in 2018 as the Communications Lead, where she drove major projects including: the 2018+ Strategic Directions, the Ally Toolkit and the Decolonial Toolbox.

 

She was subsequently promoted to Deputy Executive Director in 2020, where was responsible for overseeing the implementation of several key community projects, notably in regard to homelessness and basic needs, as well as to systemic changes in the health sector. 

Since May 2023, Leilani has been acting as Interim Executive Director, and in this role, she has guided the NETWORK’s team with great leadership, transparency and deliberation. ” Nia:wen for a job well done. We offer you our sentiments with great respect and congratulate you for all your successes in making the NETWORK an amazing and powerful Indigenous organization.” said Tealey Ka’senni:saks. 

“I am proud to be a representative of the NETWORK, an organization that strives for justice, equality, and respect for Indigenous peoples in Tiohtià:ke”, declared Leilani Shaw. “Our work encompasses various aspects of Indigenous well-being, and I am fortunate to carry on this mission.”
