Ensuring food security is vital to the health and well-being of the Indigenous community in Tiohtià:ke. Food is more than sustenance, it is a cornerstone of cultural identity, social connection, and community resilience. It brings people together, fostering shared traditions and strengthening community ties.

On this resource page, you will find information on programs that are dedicated to Indigenous peoples that offer food baskets, traditional and country foods, meals and other support services.

Discover the programs available:

The Indigenous Assistance Program provides meals and food distribution for Indigenous women in the Plateau-Mont-Royal area. 

The Karonhi:io Food Security Program provides Indigenous peoples with food baskets, meals, and traditional food on occasions.  

The Country Food and Support for Women in the Hospital Birthing Centre provides cooked country foods to Inuit women at the Birthing Centre of the MUHC Glen Hospital.

The Elders Support Network provides cooked country food to Inuit Elders aged 55 and over.

The Food Justice and Poverty Reduction provides food baskets for Inuit, with deliveries available for Elders and people with reduced mobility.

The Kaie:ri:nikawera:ke Day Centre provides breakfast and lunchfor Indigenous people experiencing homelessness or at risk of it.

The Support for People in Treatment and Recovery From Cancer provides access to nutritional support for Inuit fighting cancer.

The Street Workers for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Community Members provide access to meals for Indigenous people that are experiencing homelessness or that are at risk, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal area.
