Services dedicated to Inuit

25 July 2024
Resources for the community

Many members of Inuit communities migrate to large urban centers, such as Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, for a variety of reasons. These reasons may include a lack of services and infrastructure, overcrowded housing situations, poorer health outcomes, lower access to education or employment opportunities, and environmental degradation in their home communities, just to name a few.

Tiohtià:ke’s Inuit population is growing rapidly, and is over-represented in populations experiencing homelessness and living with lower-income or no income. Inuit in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal obviously have access to services aimed at Indigenous communities in general. However, it remains important that they have access to programs and services that cater to their specific cultures, realities and needs.

Below, you’ll find a list of services specifically dedicated to the Inuit population in Tiohtià:ke. Before visiting an organization, it’s a good rule to call to make sure it meets your needs, and to find out the best times to receive services.
