Hello friends and colleagues,

I am contacting you on behalf of the Qavvivik Inuit Family and Community Health Centre. We are a new non-profit organization that is run by and for Inuit living in southern Quebec.  Qavvivik was created to improve the health and wellness of our community by providing and facilitating access to health services that are culturally adapted, safe and respectable to all Inuit living in the Southern Quebec, irrespective of what land claim they are from.

One the most appreciated and essential programs we have initiated in the past few months is the Elder Support Network. Monthly, we deliver boxes of country food and other household essentials to 40 Inuit Elders living in Montreal. We have also partnered with Inuulitsivik to visit and bring essentials to Inuit living in long-term care in the South. There are about 50 Inuit in long term care in Montreal.  There was no support from our community for these patients.  They were largely overlooked.  We also deliver essentials to our elders without homes.  We have had many hours of consultation with our Elders to ensure their needs are being met.

The Elder Support Network is growing rapidly and there are new members requesting assistance every week and Qavvivik now needs some support to continue providing theses boxes.

Therefore, we are seeking donations from all our supporting organizations. We would like to ask if your organization would be willing to donate money or goods that are suitable for Elders (non-perishable food, hygienic products, arts and crafts, etc.). Any kind of donation will be greatly appreciated. 100% of donations will go directly to our Southern elders.

We need your contribution to ensure the continuity of the Elder Support Network and to make sure we do not turn anyone away.

With your generous donation, you will contribute to promoting the health and well-being of the most important members of our Inuit community.

If you’re interested in donating to Qavvivik, please contact us to let us know the nature and the amount of your donation.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
